Card number validator

Type a card number or just its first digits to see the card network, whether the length is right and whether it passes the Luhn checksum — the same check payment forms run before they submit.

🔒 The check runs only in your browser. The number is never sent to our server or stored.

What this validator checks

  • Card network: the first digits (IIN/BIN) show who issued the card scheme — 4 is Visa, 51–55 and 2221–2720 are Mastercard, 34/37 is American Express.
  • Length: each network uses fixed lengths, for example 15 digits for Amex and 16 for most Mastercard cards.
  • Luhn checksum: the last digit is calculated from the others. A single typo or swapped digits almost always breaks it, which is why checkout forms catch mistakes instantly.

What it cannot tell you

A valid number is only well-formed. Whether the card is active, has a balance or will be accepted by Google Ads or Meta depends on the issuer and the merchant. If your card is declined, our guides on virtual cards for Facebook ads and for Google Ads explain the usual reasons. New to virtual cards? Start with what a virtual credit card is.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to type my card number here?
The check runs entirely in your browser and the number never leaves your device. Still, you can test with only the first digits to see the network.
Why does a valid number get declined?
Validation only checks the format. Declines come from the issuer or merchant: no balance, wrong address, blocked country or merchant category.
Do you show the bank behind a BIN?
Not yet. This tool identifies the card network from the prefix; it does not look up the issuing bank.
